Folk? Country? Cosmic Americana? Guitarist/songwriter Steven Gunn says his evolving sound, showcased in his latest album, Other You, comes from “punk rock and being an aspiring guitar player, but looking for a different outlet for expression and being appreciative of blues musicians and guitarists from the UK who fused jazz, blues, and folk.”
The new album, his sixth, adds a bit of the L.A. vibe as well; the result is what Pitchfork calls “a remarkably ornate machine.” Opening the show is Jeff Parker. Wednesday, April 6, 7 p.m. 121 First St, E., Sonoma. Sebastianitheatre.com.
