Jack Ding and Sandra Lowe, unchallenged in election, will remain on City Council

Posted on August 10, 2024 by Sonoma Sun

With no new candidate nomination papers submitted to the City of Sonoma by the deadline of August 9, 2024, both Jack Ding and Sandra Lowe will retain their seats and remain on the City Council for another four year term.

Elected in 2021, both Ding and Lowe have served one term in office, and each have served as a mayor during their first term of office.

Running for election to the City Council in the city of Sonoma requires candidates to submit nomination papers, which include 30 valid signatures of registered voters within the City of Sonoma. The deadline of August 9 could have been extended by a week had either Ding or Lowe chosen not to run. As it is, neither will have to mount an election campaign to retain their seat.

The other members of the City Council, mayor John Gurney, Ron Wellander, and Patricia Farrar Rivas will be up for re-election in another two years should they choose to run again. For now, the council will remain as it’s been for the past two years.
