On November 23 and 24, VFW Auxiliary Post 1943 is hosting their second annual Veterans Holiday Market at the Sonoma Valley Veterans Memorial Building, 126 First Street West in Sonoma. This two-day event is open to the public, Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with a special invitation to military and veteran families. November is National Veterans and Military Families Month.
Good Grub Eatery is providing food at $10 a plate for a choice of pulled pork sandwich, chili and corn bread or hot dog or chili dog. There will be music to browse by, provided in the morning by Patricia Noel on the piano, and in the afternoon, the A.J.’s will play pop, rock and country.
This year’s Market brings 33 artists from the North Bay area who will be selling one-of-a-kind handmade items. The following are just a few of the many talented artists participating this year: Blue Banana Studio, Cathy Beck Photography, Toss & Throw, Frog 1 & Frog 2, Things By Jeanie, and Caya Pearls. Artists will be selling jewelry, woodwork, ceramics, quilted items, handmade clothing, dog clothing, skin care products, candy, aprons and more.
Proceeds from the Holiday Market will provide needed support to local veterans and their families.
There will be a raffle of items donated by the artists. Raffle tickets are $10 for 19 tickets. The drawing will be Sunday at around 3 p.m. and you need not be present to win. There will be a table for the public to decorate a Christmas card for veterans living in assisted-living places and rest homes in Sonoma Valley. Cards will be delivered to these veterans and also to those at the Yountville Veterans Home in Napa Valley. The spirit of the event is: Remembering our veterans by making their holiday season the best it can be.
The VFW Auxiliary is an all-volunteer service organization made up of the parents, brothers, sisters, and grandparents of the men and women who serve in combat overseas. VFW Auxiliary Post 1943 was formed in 1934 to work to improve the lives of veterans and their families in Sonoma and our community. WE ARE VETERAN FAMILIES HELPING.
