The suspect in a Sebastopol stabbing case was apprehended Thursday after a ramming a cop car during a traffic stop on a Sonoma street.
James Freeman, 37, of Sonoma was arrested in the 200 block of Andrieux Street after his aborted escape, according to a Sonoma Sheriff’s Office report. The officer was unhurt.
The incident began at 5:43 p.m. when deputies were dispatched to a Sebastopol house where a victim had been stabbed. A deputy applied pressure to the wound to try and stop the bleeding. Medical personnel arrived and transported the victim to an area hospital. The victim is expected to survive.
Deputies gathered information from the victim and witnesses at the scene, and determined that Freeman was responsible for the attack.
A deputy spotted Freeman driving his car on Andrieux Street in Sonoma, and pulled him over. Before the deputy could get out of the car, Freeman put his car in reverse and rammed into the patrol car’s bumper. Freeman surrendered and was taken into custody. The deputy was not injured.
Freeman has a history of committing violent crimes in Sonoma County, according to the Sheriff’s Office statement. In fact, he was out on parole for an earlier (unspecified) crime.
Freeman was charged with attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, violation of Post Release Community Supervision, and possession of a controlled substance. He remains in custody on a no-bail hold.
Is it really that hard to proof read a story…words are completely missing in third paragraph. Try a little harder. A newspaper whether online or print should at least attempt correct spelling, grammar and complete sentences.
(Harder than you’d think, apparently.) The typo has been fixed; thanks for pointing that out.
