Sonoma Charter School expands Transitional Kindergarten program

Sonoma Charter School kindergarteners and first graders breaking in the new play structure installed this winter, donated by Sonja Rasmussen and Peter Hodgson, previously located at The Little School. The structure provides TK/Kinder/1st Grade students with an age appropriate space to play and explore while enhancing their physical health, gross motor and spatial skills.

Sonoma Charter School (SCS) is expanding its Transitional Kindergarten (TK) program for the 2022-23 school year. More students are now eligible for TK thanks to California’s new Universal Prekindergarten Program.

Students born between September 2, 2017 through February 2, 2018 can now apply for SCS’s full-day Montessori-based program designed to build inspired self-directed learners for the 2022-23 school year.

Incoming TK students can look forward to:

  • Hands-on Child-Centered Learning and Activities
  •  Creative Expression through Visual & Performing Arts
  •  Outdoor learning including farm-to-table garden program
  • Structured-play program that incorporates body movement and fine motor skills
  • Integrated thematic instruction rich with language and early literacy/numeracy skills

Families who want to enroll in SCS’s transitional kindergarten program are encouraged to fill out the application online at www.sonomacharterschool.org. Enrollment is limited to 12 students and is determined by a lottery process.

Applications are due April 29, 2022.
