Barbara Ann “Bobbie” Tarvid passed away Sunday, August 5, 2007 peacefully at the home of her daughter in Ogden, Utah. Bobbie moved to Utah in October of 2005 to be close to her daughter and son-in-law and their family. She was 72.
Bobbie was born December 31, 1935 in Lincoln, Nebraska to Edward James “Alex” Raper and Una Christina (Sailors) Raper. She was the widow of the late Don Stephen Tarvid, Jr ., of Sonoma, CA and the former wife of Thomas M. Dixon, M.D., also of Sonoma. She was currently the companion of Mr. Natale “Nat” Ra of Shady Cove, OR who she dated in 1953 during their senior year of high school in Mountain View, CA and was reunited with in 2000.
Bobbie is survived by her daughter, Barbara Jeanne (Tarvid) Hafterson, her three sons, Don Stephen III, Michael Joseph and Nicholas Scott Tarvid, her grandchildren Lauren Hafterson Quinonez, Jett Tarvid and Senett Tarvid . She was the much loved grandmother of the late Nathan (Nate) Hafterson who preceded her in death in March of 2006. She is also survived by her great-grandson Alonso Dion Quinonez of whom she had the great delight in knowing and loving in her final years and her very new great-grandson, Izaeh Nathan who arrived just in time to meet her. She loved and had great affection for her only son-in-law, Matt Hafterson (husband of Barbara and father of Nathan and Lauren) through to her last days. She always had a smile and a kiss for Matt. She also loved her former daughter-in-law, Pamala Dawson-Tarvid (mother of Jett and Senett) and her daughter-in-law, Cheli Morrison-Tarvid (wife of Nick).
Bobbie is also survived by her sister, Judy Shelton and her brothers, Harold Raper and Jeffrey Morrison, and eight nieces and nephews. She was step-mother to Matt Dixon and Annie Dixon and the late Jennifer Dixon, all of whom she loved very much.
Following graduation from high school in Mountain View, CA, Bobbie was employed by Sylvania. She later worked for Allstate Insurance Company in San Francisco, where she met her first husband, Don S. Tarvid, Jr. When Don enlisted in the U.S. Navy, Bobbie, then in her early twenties, was hired by TWA airlines and flew as a stewardess. She and Don could see each other when Don was in Port. Following completion of his tour with the Navy in 1957, Bobbie and Don became engaged and then married in 1958. Don was the father of their four children. In her later years, Bobbie became a realtor and was affiliated with Coldwell Banker DeAnza Realty in Sonoma.

I WISH YOU ENOUGH

I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright no matter how gray the day may appear.
I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun even more.
I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive and everlasting.
I wish you enough pain so that even the smallest of joys in life may appear bigger.
I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting.
I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess.
I wish you enough hellos to get you through the final good-bye.
Take time to live.
To all of my friends and loved ones…I wish you enough.
