Yard Dogs Road Show

Sword swallowers, dancing dolls, fire eaters, sunset hobo poetry, visual voodoo — all animated by the live sounds of a cartoon-heavy band? It could only be the return of The Yard Dogs Road Show to Sonoma’s Sebastiani Theatre for evening shows on February 21 and 22. The Yard Dogs promise to present a visual and sonic journey through part of history that, they say, may or may not have existed. In a word, your average night out? Not. Doors open at 7 p.m., show at 7:30 p.m. Reserved seating tickets are $22 in advance and $25 at the door and can be purchased at Readers’ Books or the Sebastiani Theatre.  Call 996-9756 for reservations.

Sugarloaf, rain or shine

Local hike enthusiasts Dave and Bill lead a three-hour gentle hike of Sugarloaf Ridge State Park this Saturday, Feb. 20, promptly at 10 a.m. The overall 5.5-mile hike will consist of two loops from the parking lot: a 2-mile lower loop taking in the waterfall, and a 3.5-mile upper loop and a stop at the former Camp Butler. Wear layered clothing and bring a lunch and ample liquids. $8 vehicle charge to enter the park. As always, Dave and Bill will bring a cooler filled with potables to facilitate “tailgate socializing” in the parking lot after the hike. Call Dave at 539-8847 or visit sonic.net/~fmi/daveandbill.html.

Concert for Cody

Miracles Through Music in conjunction with The Sonoma County Blues hosts a Feb. 21 picnic party to help young Cody Cordellos. The event starts at noon at the Moose Lodge, 20580 Broadway. The spaghetti feed – thank you, Emmy — will be accompanied by live music from The SoulShine Blues Band (with Cliff “Bottom Line” Newsome, pictured), The Leesa Gomez Blues Band, and The Jody Counter Blues Band with vocalist Adana Browning. Tickets to the family-friendly afternoon are $10 and include free  horseshoes, pool, darts and other kids games. All proceeds will help Cody keep his current safe, clean living conditions while living with the painful skin disorder Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB). Visit miraclesthroughmusic.org or call Steven Thrasher at 548-2957.
