Barbara Bassett Grand-Scrutton

June J, 1941 – June 18,2010
Barbara (Bassett) Grand-Scrutton, 69, of Sonoma, was born June 1, 1941 in St. Cloud, Minnesota, and passed away June 18, 20 I0, at Kentfield Hospital. She lived in many places during her life, but found her heart’s home in Sonoma. Barb never wanted an ordinary life, and didn’t have one. She valued the odd, the fantastic, the magical, and sought out those things — and those people. Her child-like sense of fun brought joy to both children and adults. She relished playing poker, visiting over cotfe~ and finding quirky little presents for friends. She loved writing, drama and music, especially bluegrass festivals. She enjoyed creating silly, impromptu rhyming raps. She read and re-read John Steinbeck, Jack London and Gwen Bristow. She searched for truth and wisdom in metaphysics and all religions. She touched those around her with her generosity, her carefree spirit and loving soul.

Barb was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Agnes (Alexander) Bassett, and dear friends Cathy Caulfield, Phil Chavez, Wren, and Rick MacDOnald. She leaves behind beloved children Alexandra (Brian) and Rick (Erika); LLD Deidre (Paul) Kronschnabel; six grandchildren; sister Elizabeth Alexandra Bassett, brother James (Mary) Bassett; cherished goddaughters Julia Caulfield and Michelle Turk-Kaul; and countless friends.
