Guy Fieri cooks with Valley kids

The Food Network’s Guy Fieri brought his infectious brand of humor along his culinary skills back to Sonoma on Saturday. Appearing at Ramekins, the food guru brought together students from all over Sonoma County, including students from the Sonoma Valley High School Culinary Arts class as well as both middle schools. High school students arrived early to prep ingredients for a number of dishes, among them quesadillas and smoothies, which they would later cook with the younger students under the direction of Fieri.

According to Fieri’s web site, the chef and TV personality was recently invited by the First Lady of California and the Governor to join in the dedication of a school garden program. Fieri’s “Cooking with Kids” initiative dovetails into the First Lady’s plan to teach young people the value of growing their own food, knowing where food comes from, and healthy eating.
