Suspects nabbed after El Verano home invasion

Two men were arrested Friday afternoon on suspicion of invading a Park Tree Lane home, tying up the residents and making off with cash and marijuana.

A victim told sheriff’s deputies that he had been bound with zip ties and robbed at gunpoint by three or four Hispanic males, according to Detective Sergeant Carlos Basurto. The victims, exact number unknown, were not injured.

One was able to free himself and call 911. He reported that at about 1:30 p.m. he had seen three men armed with guns exiting a house and fleeing in a vehicle.

About a half-hour later officers from the CHP located the suspect vehicle in Santa Rosa and stopped it near the Sonoma County Fairgrounds.

Inside the vehicle officers found a large quantity of marijuana and three loaded handguns. Deputies arrested Noel Salbalsa Garcia, 36, and Ricardo Martin Marin-Casillas, 35. Both suspects are from Mexico, but have been living in Phoenix, Arizona, according to the sheriff’s report.

Detectives believe there may be one or more outstanding suspects at this time.

Deputies responding to the call were initially unable to locate the residence or reporting party for several minutes. After locating the residence, deputies determined that a home invasion robbery had in fact occurred in the 18000 block of Park Tree Lane.

It was confirmed that the reporting party was actually one of the victims, and he was able to free himself in time to see the suspects drive off in a vehicle, Basurto reported.
It is not known why the victim did not identify himself or contact arriving deputies, he said.

The victim reported that the suspects stole cash and a large quantity of marijuana from the residence.
