The Sonoma Valley High School music department acquired three silver and one bronze award during the 2007-2008 school year.

This year’s’ Sonoma Valley High School chorus and madrigals went out in style. The two musical groups were a huge success, boasting an array of talented singers and winning many musical awards, including the Glen Ellen Parade award, Vintage Festival Choral award and the Sonoma Developmental Center parade award. They also managed to win some very notable state awards, taking the Choral Sweepstakes Award at the Heritage Music Festival in Orlando, Fla. for the best performing chorus.
Cumulatively this past year, the music department has nabbed three silver awards and one bronze, proving a talented set. The chorus and madrigals performed between 10 and 15 concerts, and as the year closed, many members looked back fondly on their accomplishments with the group they were forced to leave behind, “It’s been a really cool experience. It can be really hard work,” explained choral member Andrew Sales, senior, adding, “Just being with people who like to sing and share your ideas and passion really makes it worth the experience.” And as they head out into college and prepare for their adult lives, many choir members plan to continue their musical education later in life.
