Ed Foundation's 8k race

For the Sonoma Valley Education Foundation, the Hit The Road Jack in June was an 8k race: the charity has received a $8,000 donation from the 25th annual wine country run.

SVEF Executive Director Laura Zimmerman said local race enthusiasts Paul Giusto and Michael Sebastiani, from Highway 12 Winery, are to thank for helping bring back the popular event after a one-year hiatus.

“We are so grateful to the guys from Highway 12 for including us in this year’s race”, said Zimmerman. “Not only did it raise a significant amount of proceeds for kids and education, but it brought back an iconic Sonoma brand and foot race.”

After a disappointing cancellation due to a lack of sponsors for the 2011 event, this year saw over 1,400 competitors cross the finish line. The race was followed by a day of festivities, highlighted by the traditional Ox Roast and art exhibit.

Next years race will be held on Sunday, June 2, 2013.
