A delegation from Sonoma’s Sister City in Italy, the town of Greve in the Chianti region of Tuscany, gets a view of bread making American-style at Artisan Bakers during a busy visit to Sonoma.
Heading the delegation is the Greve Mayor (Sindaco) Alberto Bencista who returned to the office last year; he held the office 30 years ago when the Sister City relationship was founded. Other scheduled activities included meetings with the Sonoma Valley Visitors Bureau, The Sonoma Valley Vintners & Growers Alliance, a rededication of the Sonoma Bocce Courts and a presentation of the delegation to the City Council, and a visit to the Farmers’ Market.
Greve is the lead city in Tuscany’s premier wine district. The Sonoma-Greve Committee is looking for new members in anticipation of a visit to the Chianti wine region next year. Anyone interested should contact Bill Boerum at 766-4329.
