Relay returns to Sonoma

Teams of citizens from all walks of life will gather at Sonoma Valley High School for the American Cancer Society’s overnight relay against cancer, starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 2 and lasting through 10 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 3.
Relay For Life opens as cancer survivors walk or wheelchair the first lap. One of the event’s highlights is the Ceremony of Hope, a luminaria ceremony held at dusk to honor survivors and to remember those who have lost the battle against cancer.
New to Relay for Life this year is the Fight Back Ceremony on Sunday morning, a time for participants to feel and become empowered to take action against the disease.
“Relay For Life is about our community coming together to celebrate, remember and fight back,” said Renea Magnani, event chair.
