Next stop, Glen Ellen

A Dunbar School science and garden lesson culminates with the tossing of seed balls into an open field on the grounds of the Lasseter Family Winery.

Kids prepared for the outing by stuffing an empty egg shell with wet dirt and seeds of plants attractive to bees. They then walked to the neighboring vineyard, hopped the estate’s private train, and rode to an open spot to begin the bombardment. Said Nancy Lasseter of the October 22 visit, “We wanted give the children an empathetic perspective about the plight of the honey bees, and show them that there are fun and positive ways achieve balance in nature, and also make a difference.”
