Pier steps down as Boys & Girls Clubs chief

After eight years as executive director of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Sonoma Valley, David Pier has resigned, effective February 1.

“It has been a fulfilling and rewarding experience, complete with successes/challenges and, most importantly, with deep and lasting impact for the youth of Sonoma,” Pier said in a statement “The Club is a special place, and it has been a joy to be a part of its growth and progress.”

The interim director will be Alan Anspac, according to Larry Krieger, Clubs board president. A former director of the Pacific Northwest Region, “Alan has personal connections to the staff, board, and history of Boys & Girls Clubs of Sonoma Valley,” Krieger stated.

This change of leadership will not disrupt the daily services, Krieger promised. “We have complete confidence in the ability of the current leadership team and program staff to move The Club forward with positive momentum during this transition.”
