‘A Vintage Holiday 2008’

On Saturday, November 22, Vintage House will host the 13th annual holiday gala event.

On Saturday, Nov. 22, Vintage House will host its 13th annual holiday gala event and major fundraiser of the year, “A Vintage Holiday.” The celebration includes silent and live auctions and a raffle of premium wines. A gourmet dinner, prepared by Sage Caterers, will begin with hors d’oeuvres and champagne, followed by a four-course meal paired with award-winning wines. The Valley Girls will entertain during the live auction, followed by the John Simon Quartet playing after-dinner dance music. Stone Hall and the hallways and side rooms of Vintage House will be transformed into a vintage holiday wonderland.
Through the years Vintage House, also known as the Jerry Casson Multipurpose Senior Center, has become the primary gathering place for many over-55 Sonomans, who gather to play bridge, sing in a choir, have a hot meal on Fridays, enjoy Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners, learn a new dance, receive help with tax forms, get a blood pressure reading or sip coffee in a quiet corner. Many of Vintage House’s 1,700 members, approximately 16 percent of Sonoma’s entire population, regularly make the “House With a Heart” their home-away-from-home.
Vintage House’s diverse offerings require an insightful management team, numerous dedicated volunteers and a satisfied clientele. Maintaining so many high-quality programs in an era of diminishing resources becomes an ever-greater challenge; thus, fundraising becomes an increasingly important undertaking. “A Vintage Holiday 2008” is open to the public; tickets are $150. For reservations call 707.996.0311 or visit Vintage House at 264 First St. E. For more information or to view the auction lots for “A Vintage Holiday,” go to www.vintagehouse.org.
