Stan Jackson brought joy daily to his friends in Sonoma and beyond. One of the original shows hosts in 2004 on KSVY 91.3 Sonoma, Stan entertained with dry humor and his knowledge and love of music, especially from the ‘50s. He connected with listeners spanning generations, and his fellow broadcasters selected Stan as the inaugural KSVY Host of the Year in 2005.
Until he and his beloved wife Jackie moved to Daly City in 2006, to be near his dear grandson Malik, rarely a day went by without Stan appearing as a guest on another KSVY show or hosting his own, often with help from alter ego Captain Andy for local airborne traffic reports.
Stan loved people, believing that everyone had a story to tell and that everyone’s story had value. He found many friends in his several writing groups in Sonoma, especially those focused on life stories, and he is fondly remembered.
Born and raised in San Francisco’s Mission District, he graduated from Lowell High School and San Francisco State University. Much of his adult life was spent in Pacifica, raising his two daughters.
Stan suffered from diabetes for 48 years, with seldom a complaint, and succumbed peacefully at his home in Daly City on April 14. He was 66.
His love and sense of humor will be missed by his wife Jackie, his daughters Missy (David) and Beth (Mateo), his grandson Malik, the Jackson and Heiser families, as well as his many loving friends.
A memorial mass and celebration of Stan’s life will be held at noon on Saturday, June 2 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 700 Oddstad Boulevard in Pacifica. Donations to the American Diabetes Association are requested in lieu of flowers.
