Sonoma Valley Adult School is offering a series of business classes for those interested in gaining skills and exploring work or investment options.
Starting Thursday, Feb. 19, from 6 to 8 p.m., a six-week Spanish language course for health professionals will cover medical vocabulary, and basic health-related conversations for real life/work situations. The Clinical Medical Assistant (CMA) training program will open another session starting March 16. The CMA field is an excellent medical career for those who cannot, or do not want to, go to college.
On Saturday, March 7, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., a one-day class to become a certified notary public will be offered.
Another option available to job seekers, or to people already working in winery tasting rooms who want to improve their skill level, is a one-day class on Tuesday, March 10, from 6 to 8:30 p.m., called, “Hospitality: Don’t Pour Wine Without It.” Participants will learn best practices for interacting with customers and how to increase wine sales.
For those interested in investment, a two-session guide on how to buy distressed properties and real estate foreclosures will start on Tuesday, March 10, at 6 p.m. The class is not a “get rich quick” type format, but a realistic look at sound investing taught by longtime professional Andrew Smith, MBA.
The three-session course, “Retired Reinspired: Living on Purpose After 50,” starts on Monday, March 16, at 6:30 p.m. The class will focus on helping participants explore their talents and skills to reinvent their vision of retirement.
Finally, Sonoma Valley Adult School has an array of computer classes that are ongoing and designed to help adults gain skill on programs such as QuickBooks Pro, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint – to name just a few. To find out more about these classes, or for registration information, go to www.sonomavalleyadultschool.org or call the office at 707.933.4033.
