Imagery Estate Winery has promoted Silvio “Coach” Coccia to the position of wine shop manager.
Silvio, also known as “Sil,” began his career in the wine industry in 2007 at Benziger Family Winery on a part-time basis in the tasting room. After recognizing his considerable skills both as a salesman and entrepreneur, the family asked him to lead Wine Shop operations for Imagery Estate Winery on Highway 12. Sil’s energy and experience will be a driving force for Imagery, making the small boutique winery as successful as Sonoma’s own Lady Dragons basketball team.
In conjunction with his new role at Imagery Estate, Sil continues his career as a coach at Sonoma Valley High, where he leads the championship Lady Dragons varsity basketball team.
In 2008, Sil led the Lady Dragons to their first league championship in 25 years and the highest win total in school history. He was named the Sonoma County League Coach of the Year and also named as the Redwood Empire Coach of the Year.
Prior to working in the wine industry, Sil was at the helm of several small startup companies including Scarfacci Bicycle Company, an importer of custom Italian bicycle frames, and Caffe Andiamo. Additionally, Sil founded Sonoma Marketing Consultants, Inc., a firm that capitalized on his previous career background in pharmaceuticals, and provided strategic planning and business development services to health care companies.
“Sil is an inspiration to us all at Imagery and we are fortunate to have him as a member of our team,” said Imagery winemaker Joe Benziger. “He is the perfect pairing with our wines and a great ambassador for the brand.”
