Nationwide, Democrats Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama are neck-and-neck in fund raising for the 2008 U.S. Presidential election.)
But here in the Sonoma Valley, Obama is the clear leader, according to the New York Times’ Web site, which gives a breakdown of contributions of $200 or more to presidential campaigns by zip code.
Fifteen valley residents are listed as having donated to Obama. Meanwhile, five valley residents, all of whom are women, donated to Clinton.
A total of $30,925 was donated to five Democrat candidates:
• Hillary Clinton, $3,300.
• John Edwards, $4,100.
• Barack Obama, $20,225.
• Bill Richardson, $3,300.
In the Republican camp, John McCain is the top fund-raiser, from eight valley residents. A total of $13,300 was donated to two Republican candidates:
• Rudy Giuliani, $1,500.
• John McCain, $11,800.
