There is a lot happening in Sonoma, as Wednesday night’s four-function fandango illustrates. All at the same time, there were meetings of the City Council (at the Community Center), the hospital board (at the Sonoma Valley Lodge), the Citizens Advisory Commision (at the Fire Station), and the Community Services & Environment Commission (at City Hall).

CITY COUNCIL. The council met twice, once in the afternoon to review capital improvement plans and again in the evening to decide on distributions to “tier-two” non-profits. Some $100,300 was allocated among 17 local organizations that provide services to city residents; only 5 organizations went home empty-handed. More…
HOSPITAL BOARD. The board presented background data for its selection of the “In-Town” site and engaged a number of residents near the Carinalli property over their concerns about the scope of development near their homes. The expected proposal by the Broadway developer was delayed several weeks, while those site plans are finalized. More…
CITIZENS ADVISORY COMMISSION. The advisory commission to County Supervisor Valerie Brown considered the application for a medical marijuana dispensary on Riverside Drive, just outside city limits. Despite concerns by neighbors, the commission voted 6-1 to send a recommendation for approval to Brown. The matter should be considered by the Board of Supervisors within weeks. More…
