A popular brand of snack food is being recalled for containing undisclosed ingredients.
Nestle Prepared Foods of Kentucky recalled 215,660 pounds of “Hot Pockets Pepperoni Pizza” brand frozen stuffed sandwiches Thursday because they might contain “foreign materials,” a term the USDA did not define.
The USDA Food Safety Inspection Service made this a Class I Recall, which means high health risk. These “Hot Pockets” were distributed to retail establishments nationwide after June 5, 2008.
Avoid 54-ounce 12-pack cartons with the USDA mark of inspection, “Best Before Jan2010,” and the numbers “8157544614D,” and “Est 7721A.”
The recall may not affect shoppers at major Sonoma Valley chain grocers. Managers at Safeway and Luckys said yesterday they were aware of the situation but had not received an official alert.
