Nearly 3,000 homes were left without power for more than two hours last night after a traffic collision in Boyes Hot Springs.
“It looks like a dump truck hit a piece of phone equipment, causing our lines to slap together and fall to the ground,” PG&E spokesperson Jana Morris said this morning, adding that the incident occurred at 6:09 p.m. “It does look like it impacted a good portion of Sonoma.”
Morris couldn’t identify the accident location, but a spokesperson for the Sonoma Police Department confirmed that deputies responded at 6:16 p.m. to the corner of Highway 12 and Sierra Drive for a report of a blown transformer and dangling wires. No injuries were reported.
Most of the 2,880 homes had power restored by 8:20 p.m., with another 400 back on-line at 10 p.m. and the remaining 260 restored just before 3 a.m., Morris said.
