More light brown apple moths confirmed in Sonoma County

By Monday, recent LBAM finds include: three in the Ramal Road area, three in the Felder Road area, one in Boyes Hot Springs, and one south of Sebastopol. A quarantine is already in place in the Ramal area, and a new quarantine will be placed in the Felder Road area.
Sonoma County Agricultural Commissioner Lisa Correia expressed concern at the spread. “What’s happened is there have been many densely populated areas – Marin, San Francisco County, Alameda, Contra Costa – and limited control measures have been utilized in those areas.” Lack of control and the continued warm weather have made it possible, she said, for the insects to move beyond their original areas. “It’s a concern.” She said the state is looking at what measures to take next beyond additional trapping.
