The Nathanson Creek Restoration day scheduled for Saturday Jan. 10 has been cancelled due to the suspension of a grant that has “frozen” Julie Jehly’s position of Stewardship Coordinator. Short of staff, the cleanup cannot proceed.
The grant, Jehly said, was funded by Prop. 50, and was to be for three years, starting last July. She said it’s not lost, just frozen, and so it could get started up again.
“I’m thinking they can’t go on for more than a couple of weeks,” said Jehly, “but I don’t know. Obama was saying he wants to fund projects that are shovel ready. Certainly my shovel is ready.”
Notice: Saturday’s Nathanson Creek restoration day cancelled
