Pets Lifeline announces new board members

Pets Lifeline has appointed Deanna Schwab and Ann Jones to its board of directors.
Deanna Schwab has been a practicing veterinarian at Arroyo Veterinary Hospital since 2000. She earned her DVM from University of California at Davis, School of Veterinary Medicine in 1996. Schwab also has a BS in business administration from State University of New York, Oswego. In 2000 she moved to Sonoma with her husband, Mark Covaro, their three dogs and four cats. “As a local veterinarian,” said Schwab, “I have enjoyed working with Pets Lifeline for the past nine years. But now more than ever, our community is being called on to help care for the animals of Sonoma. As a board member, I hope to play a larger role in helping keep our precious companions healthy, safe and well-cared for, as ultimately, it is so much more they give to us.”
Jones, owner of Ann Jones Interiors, spent several years with some of San Francisco’s largest retailers directing fashion and public relations. She and her partner Tim Mott, co-founder of Electronic Arts and Macromedia, are currently building their permanent residence in Sonoma. It was her interest in volunteering and working with dogs that initially brought Jones to PLL. Jones also serves on the board of the Sonoma Ecology Center.
When asked about her reasons for joining PLL, Jones said, “I believe that my background in owning my own business combined with interior design knowledge will lend itself to a better working environment for the Pets Lifeline community. Next to fundraising, shelter improvements are at the top of my list of things to do. PLL is a great cause and there are animals in need. I am delighted to put my time and energy toward this endeavor.”
Newly elected president and past PLL treasurer George Bradley, owner of Paradise Flowers, stated, “This year our focus remains as it always is, to provide shelter and care for the stray and homeless dogs and cats in the Sonoma Valley. The addition of Deanna Schwab and Ann Jones to our board bolsters our efforts and makes the prospect of Pets Lifeline’s continued success look better than ever.”
These additions increase the number of Pets Lifeline directors to seven. In addition to Schwab, Jones, and Bradley, other members of the Pets Lifeline board include treasurer and previous board president Tom Cygnar, of Oceania Wine Group; secretary Marilyn Kelly, retired superintendent of the Sonoma Valley Unified School District; Barbara Johnsen, interior design; and Lee Evans, retired attorney and owner of Three Dog Bakery.
