The non-profit Vineyard Workers Services has partnered with the Sonoma Valley Hospital Rehabilitation and Occupational Health Services in order to help workers get physicals required by new respiratory protection regulations. Besides ensuring that vineyard workers have a place to go when injured or sick, the partnership will aid growers to comply with the changes in state regulations for their workers. As part of the new regulations, workers must fill out a questionnaire to determine suitability for wearing filtration masks.
VWS is asking for donations from growers based on the number of employees, to help facilitate the process and provide translation services. Donations to VWS are tax deductible.
Over the coming weeks, VWS will be highlighting its services to vineyard workers and their employers. For more information, call outreach manager Mario Castillo, who is available for site visits and consultations on a variety of issues. VWS will extend its hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays in order to serve employees after work. For more information, call 707.933.0897
