Sonoma City Council – Special meeting

A special meeting dedicated to finalizing an $11.4 million city budget. The council has tentatively agreed on measures to reduce a proposed $494,000 general fund deficit to about $125,000 in red ink, to include maintaining staff vacancies; a $61,000 reduction in the sheriff’s contract; and cuts to the cemetery fund, public art, the Sonoma Valley Visitors Bureau and nonprofit service partners. How to make up that difference, and if the city will dip into its reserves, will be decided. No new taxes have been proposed but new revenue ideas that may be discussed include parking meters on Sonoma Plaza. Wednesday, Sept. 30, 6 p.m., Community Meeting Room, 177 First St. W.
