Two mosaic tributes to the lives of lost Prestwood students were stolen recently from the school’s Perfect Moments Garden. The sacred space, dedicated in May, honors the memory of Aidan and Grace Maloney, Anjalee Sanchez and Rachel Siery. The tiles were in place for most of the summer, according to school parent and garden founder Michael Meehan, but were taken right before the beginning of the school year. “We are really hoping they are returned,” he said. “Each mosaic was designed by the students in class with the lost students, and they each took about 12 hours to make by our volunteers.” School Principal Beth Wolk added, “I am very saddened by the loss of the tiles, as is our entire school community. The Memorial Garden is a very special place for all of us, and it is sad that our students, who have been through so much, have had to see that the tiles were taken.” Wolk called the theft a thoughtless act of vandalism, and hopes that the tiles will be returned. “We appreciate the kind and positive thoughts that the people of Sonoma continue to send us,” she said.
