Witchie Poo creeps into town for Halloween fun

Posted on October 16, 2010 by Sonoma Valley Sun

It’s all treat, and a perhaps a trick or two, when Sonoma’s favorite witch returns to her favorite Halloween haunt.

The Witchie Poo Players present the 30th annual Halloween Extravaganza stage show, “Witchie Poo & Lemmie Go Retro,” in four weekend matinees. The production will inhabit the Sebastiani Theatre, itself decorated and costumed, at 2 p.m. on Oct. 23, 24, 30 and 31.

When we catch up with our famed Halloween queen, Witchie Poo, she will be reminiscing with her trusted companion, Lemmie, about past three decades of outrageous misadventures,

The dancing monsters and ghoulies known as the Witchie Poo Players, a troupe some 60 strong, will recreate past favorites such as “The Witchie Poo Medley,” “Thriller,” “Be Kind to Your Neighborhood Monster,” and “This is Halloween.”

“Animal” (Rod Leeburg), the familiar, hairy, bright yellow monster, will add his thumping and chiming percussive elements to the melee, while Skeleton Jack (Dave Robbins) promises a chilling and thrilling performance.

Other performers include: Roger Rhoten, The Magic Man; Son of Jack, Jackson; The Cruise Brothers, Jake & Elwood; Cat Austin; Gumby; and the lovely Princess Fiona, Spirits reveal that surprise guest appearances are in the works as well.

The audience is invited to come in costume for the intermission costume parade and a chance to draw for an array of prizes. Advance general seating tickets are available at Readers’ Books and the Sebastiani Theatre. Adults are $9; seniors 62 and better, and children 12 and under, are $6. Call 996-9756 to reserve.
