Firefighters Kyle Lely, Sean Lacy, Trevor Smith and Bill Harper show off the newest rescue vehicle in the Sonoma Valley Fire & Rescue Authority (SVFRA) fleet. The 2011 260 horsepower diesel rig, along with its trained crew, will respond to emergencies in which people are trapped or buried by structures, debris or earth. It can also perform swift water rescues and be used to stabilize buildings, among other rescue scenarios. The “Type 2 Rescue” unit will be stationed at Station #3 on Aqua Caliente Road and available for use throughout Sonoma County when it comes on line on June 1. Smith said being chosen by the county as the host site for the vehicle was a big honor for the SVFRA.
