Showing off the rustic yet spacious chicken coop at the Sonoma Garden Park are Rebecca Bozzelli and some the roost’s feathered residents. Smith’s 23-hen operation is one stop on the May 14 “Le Tour de Coop,” a self-guided tour of six backyard coops.
Tickets are $20, and include a map of neighbors willing to share their ideas and expertise. Refreshments await at each stop. Proceeds benefit programming at the Sonoma Garden Park, located at 19996 Seventh St. E. In addition providing eggs (about one per chicken every day or two), Smith said the chickens are loyal and self-sufficient, and with distinct personalities.
