Missing Glen Ellen teenager found safe

Posted on July 27, 2011 by Sonoma Valley Sun

Two weeks after going missing from her Glen Ellen home 16-year-old Kasandra Poshepny was found unhurt July 23 in a makeshift campsite in Santa Rosa. Her boyfriend, Robbie Huffman, 19, was arrested at the scene on multiple charges.

“We just found her, we have her now,” said older sister Jess Poshepny.

Poshepny said Huffman was arrested for child endangerment, a felony, and unlawful intercourse with a minor, which is a misdemeanor. He was booked into Sonoma County Jail with a bail of $25,000.

After Kasandra disappeared July 8, Poshepny spearheaded a virtual search for her younger sister, using Facebook and other social media to spread the word.

Of all the tips and reported sightings that poured in, Poshepny said it was an anonymous caller on the night of July 22 that revealed her sister’s exact location – an area of open space on Beverly Drive in east Santa Rosa.

Poshepny said the caller claimed to be “an ex-friend” of Huffman.

The family responded and found Huffman’s truck at the site. A crude campsite was located the next morning, when by daylight sheriff’s deputies began exploring the nearby wooded area. The teenagers were there, bedraggled but unharmed.

Jess Poshepny shared her joy that afternoon with listeners of the Scott Rox show on SUN FM. She was scheduled as a call-in guest as part of the search campaign, but instead was able to deliver the good news of Kasandra’s safe return.

“We’re all so happy,” she said.
