Café Mac set to go viral at new Broadway location

For the past ten years, local Macintosh guru Jim Witous has watched as Apple slowly but surely opened 350 wildly popular retail stores around the globe. Now, he’s ready to get in on that action.

During that time, Witous has built a loyal following by painstakingly caring for his clients’ needs whether, it’s a broken iPod screen or a completely devastating hard drive crash. He’s generally just a phone call away, hustling to his First Street West office at a moment’s notice to diagnose the “weird noise coming from my laptop” or the “iPhone app that is acting crazy.”

Come January, Witous will reopen Café Mac at a new location, 20093 Broadway, adjacent to the bike shop. A true retail store, Witous envisions the revamped Café Mac as a place where Apple enthusiasts can “hang out,” take classes, learn new tricks and purchase products.

“For years, people have told me they didn’t know I was even in town selling Apple products,” said Witous. “I’ve wanted a retail space for a quite some time and this is an excellent spot for that dream.”

The new space will have a “museum-like” feel according to Witous with vintage Apple products and artwork. A lounge area in front will invite hanging around and a demo/play area with long table will encourage exploration. In back, the “Blue Bar” will be the place to receive service. Witous is also building a roomy classroom where he will offer classes. Of note, classes for Sonoma Valley teachers will be provided free of charge.

“I’m excited about this opportunity. The space and the location are great. We’re planning Friday night social hours where people can come and chat, learn and socialize. It’s going to be really fun,” said a grinning Witous.

Aloha Jim: So glad you’re going ‘public’. Will your
space be an authorized Apple establishment? Always
think of you. Have a MacBook & still love it.

    See you this summer.

    With Aloha, Naomi Radtke
