Creatures of the night

Gundlach Bundschu Winery kicks off its 2012 event season April 28 with one of its favorite indie bands, the Fruit Bats. Opening acts Gold Leaves and Garrett Pierce kick off the 7:45 p.m. show at the winery’s historic redwood barn venue.

The Cochon Volant food truck will be on site offering BBQ dinners for purchase; wine for sale, for sure. Concert tickets are $15 per person in advance, $20 at the door.

Eric Johnson, the front man for the Fruit Bats and its “rustic pop’ sound, co-founded the winery’s annual Huichica Music Festival with Jeff Bundschu. The band headlined the festival in its first two years. “Because the festival has grown so much, Eric wants to keep his organizer hat on during Huichica this year,” said Bundschu, “but we really wanted the band to play, so we decided that they should
do their own show.”

The dates for the two-day, 11 band Huichica Festival are June 1 and 2. Find out more about all the shows at Gunbun.com.
