It was a packed house Saturday night for the Sonoma Community Center’s Second Annual Trashion Show, a catwalk of eco-correct couture made from recycled and repurposed materials, cast-off junk and, well, just plain garbage.
Mikeala Homes took first place for her “Black Pearl” (front page), made from bubble wrap. Designer Julie Calhoun scored third place with a dress composed of custom-dyed burlap bags.
Teens from Presentation School strutted their stuff as well.
The parade of dumpster divas drew a constant roar – and a sea of smart phone cameras — from the enthusiastic crowd. Quipped one fan, “We’re just a few gay men away from a show on the Bravo network.”
