In the race for 1st District Supervisor, a November showdown of Tuesday’s top two finishers is likely. So what happens if one of them is Joanne Sanders — and she loses? She’d be soon be off the Sonoma City Council, too: her seat is up this year, and she can’t run for both offices at the same time… About 25% of the district’s 57,000 registered voters have already sent in their ballots. Ten percent are looking for stamps. As for the one percent, theirs will no doubt be hand-delivered by the chauffeur.
The shuttered Little Switzerland, the restaurant/nightclub with a history of legal late night music, is on the market for $699,000, which includes the parcel used for parking. Would be a steal if it came with the liquor license and the (rare) permit for amplified music, which it doesn’t. So, just another funky empty building among many on the market.
Last year’s firing of Agricultural Commissioner Cathy Neville will stick. She was axed from the $150k-per-year post for, to summarize the under-documented charges, being really, really hard to work for. Her decision to fire Amy Cooper, the county’s director of Animal Care and Control (since rehired) didn’t go over well, and she allegedly lied to county investigators. A fat file was compiled, but never made public. Neville contended that only the state, not the board of supervisors, had the authority to dismiss her. The court did not agree.
