Planting a foundation

Posted on September 27, 2012 by Sonoma Valley Sun

Aspiring gardeners in Kristi Draluck’s kindergarten class at Prestwood Schoool are working out of a new shed this year, thanks to a donation by Steve Ledson.

After Draluck transformed a neglected playground into a beautiful garden (complete with solar power, thanks to a PG&E grant she pushed through), the blossoming garden needed a new storage space. Amee Scott was one of the school parents on the lookout when she spotted a shed with a ‘for sale’ sign in Armstrong Estates. She called, and ended up speaking to developer Steve Ledson, who happily agreed to donate the shed to the school. He even delivered, driving the shed down the street on a big forklift.

“Kristi is one of those great teachers you dream of your kids having,” Scott said, “one you’d do anything for.”
