The Rotary Club of Sonoma Valley is holding a fundraiser for the Sonoma Moose Lodge. California Luau will take place on Saturday, June 6 at the Moose Lodge. The proceeds will go towards purchasing the Lodge a much needed HVAC system. This is a chance for the community to give back to a organization that has been giving to the Sonoma community for decades.
The Loyal Order of the Moose has served as a social club and service organization since 1888. Founded in a place with no moose – Kentucky – there are over 1 million members internationally. Famous members include Charlie Chaplin, Arnold Palmer, and multiple presidents.
Sonoma’s is one of the largest and most active, well known for its charitable contributions to local Sonoma groups, such as 4-H, and to families in need, they’re also known for their fun bingo nights and polka parties. Sonoma Moose is as close to working class clubs as we get in the Valley these days, annual dues average $40 for single people, making it affordable for anyone looking to give back to their community and find camaraderie of all ages.
For $40, guests will enjoy a whole hog roast, chicken, lamb meatballs, brisket, and plenty of side dishes prepared by Sonoma Gourmet (and Moose member) Roger Declercq. Women of the Moose are preparing desserts to complement the Hawaiian theme. Your ticket will also get you a free beer/wine and the sounds of Twang Ditty, who plays old school honky tonk, rockabilly and country.
There will also be a silent auction, raffle, and Hula Mai will be performing traditional Hawaiian dance.
