Fourth generation Sonoma native and Prestwood Elementary alum Elizabeth Liscum has been named principal of Creekside High School. An educator with 10 years in the field, she will also provide oversight of the Middle School Writing Centers.
Liscum earned her undergraduate, graduate, and teaching & administrative credentials from Sonoma State University. She has since supported the district in roles as a teacher, and as AVID Site Coordinator, School Site Council, ELAC, Academic Coordinator, Activities Director, and Summer Literacy Academy Coordinator.
Liscum’s first steps will be to understand the staff, scholars, and community partners at Creekside and at the Writing Centers, said Jonathan Ferrer, school district human resources director. “She looks forward to putting her strengths in community engagement and capacity building to support middle school writing and Creekside success.”
Liscum, Ferrer said, believes deeply that building relationships is the key to a scholars engagement to curriculum. Her primary goal is to ensure the Creekside community feels supported. She also feels that middle school scholars need to continue to have strong learning opportunities through the district’s two middle school Writing Centers.
Among her accomplishments, Liscum facilitated the implementation of AVID and created professional learning opportunities for district teachers. She also represents Sonoma Valley Unified on the California Association of Directors of Activities.
Liscum’s tentative start date is Sept. 17.
