Sonoma’s Friday Farmers Market has been revamped to mitigate the risks of catching or transmitting the coronavirus. The changes include limiting the total number of people within the market booth area at one time, regulating entry at the east end and exit at the west end, and creating a serpentine waiting line drawn with chalk that helps patrons maintain at least six feet of space between them and other attendees. Vendors are generally requiring the use of credit or debit cards rather than cash. Combined with face masks now required by the County of Sonoma, these new procedures seemed to work well today, though it took longer to gain entrance. By the look of it, the market remains very popular, which may be due to its outdoor location as compared with indoor supermarkets. And of course, the offerings at the market are terrific.
