Another busy month of feeding Sonoma Valley’s homeless

From its temporary base of Springs Community Hall, Sonoma Overnight Support served 3,106 meals in August — a 20% increase over July. A total of 147 individuals, including 46 new clients, were fed, according to Kathy King, the nonprofit’s executive director.
“As community needs grow, we rely on the thoughtful generosity which you so graciously provide, and we couldn’t be more thankful,” she said. “In the spirit of Gratitude Week, we’d like to take a moment to thank each and every one of you for your support in helping to make this happen.”
King noted the donation by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints of 50 hygiene kits (above), which help keep people safe during the COVID-19 crisis. She also thanked St. Andrew Presbyterian Church’s Deacon Fund for enabling the purchase of a generator to keep the operation going in any power outages. And
Wild Oak Saddle Club for donating 280 meals throughout this month.
“With your help, we will continue to live by our mission to shelter the homeless and feed the hungry in Sonoma and Sonoma Valley.”
