The COVID-19 pandemic has increased the reliance and demand for tech services like never before, impacting just about every aspect of life and business, large and small. Some statistics say as much as 85 percent since the pandemic. And, among those who know this very well is Sonoma’s own Joe Wilson of Wilson Tech Services.
His father Robert Wilson owned and operated Sonoma Old School Skate & Surf Shop on Broadway and his mom owns her own hair salon. So it’s no surprise going into business came naturally, especially since Joe has a passion for technology.
“I always had a love of computers, ever since my teens,” said Wilson, who was born and raised here in Sonoma, attending local schools and college. He decided to go into business for himself in 2017 after working at Staples for a few years.
“I realized, this isn’t difficult and I recognized while working at Staples that people needed fair and reasonable rates. Keeping up with technology is important for people today, otherwise, you get left behind in the dust.”
With the advent of Covid and the home-office phenomena, his business definitely picked up. “With the increased use of apps like Zoom, business has exceeded what it was before Covid. We are definitely in the 21st Century now.”
The pandemic has created work routines that are here to stay, Wilson believes. “We’re going to see a lot more of people working from home, and a stationery location a thing of the past.” He credits it to the fact that advancements in technology, wireless tools, and smart devices more efficient and reliable than ever.
He admitted that at times it is easy to get bored with the routine stuff – especially for a wiz who is passionate about all things computer. “Yet, I look forward to the challenges and I love those ‘Aha!’ moments,” said Wilson.
“Honestly, I am not bothered by the mundane or banal because tech for me is always engaging, there is always something to learn. I am not a know-it-all. I like helping people and want to make sure they get the best help at the best and fair price available.”
Working remotely, he is able to do house calls when needed, with distancing protocols in place. To learn more about Wilson Tech Services, visit https://wilsontechservices.net. 707- 732-3911
