Now showing

When Prime Cinemas – the multiplex in the Fiesta Center space last occupied by Sonoma Cinemas – opened this month, the excitement level was high – even before the movie started. “People are happy to be out, happy to be back at the movies,” said new owners Brian and Katherine Young.

The couple own a theater complex in a Red Bluff mall, where their landlord happens to be the owner of Fiesta Center. When the previous Sonoma operator couldn’t weather the Covid shutdown, the Youngs, who live in San Francisco, were asked to step in. Now, Brian runs the show(s) as the general manager.

The staff includes a few returnees and some fresh faces,” a lot of new people, Young says. “We’re all learning together.” He said it should be a blockbuster summer, with mega superhero films and the latest in the Fast and Furious franchise. But with seven screens, soon to ramp up to all nine, there should be something for everybody. “It feels great to be part of something that people have really looked forward to.”
