Katherine Hahn, long-time Dunbar Elementary School Teacher and Teacher on Special Assignment, has been appointed interim principal at Dunbar Elementary School.
The news follows last month’s announcement that principal, Jillian Beal was appointed as Director of Educational Services with an emphasis on student wellness and inclusion.
Hahn takes the helm at Dunbar having spent the last seven years at at the Glen Ellen school as a 4th and 5th grade teacher, and more recently Dunbar’s Academic Specialist.
In her time at Dunbar Ms. Hahn has used her extensive teaching background and bilingual skill set to work directly with students and families to enrich the learning experience for all. Ms. Hahn shares she “is so excited to be moving into this new role at Dunbar.
“During my last seven years, Dunbar has come to feel like home, and it’s truly an honor to continue to serve our amazing Dunbar community in this new capacity,” Hahn said. “(I’m) so excited to be moving into this new role.”
Hahn has served in education for a total of 15 years, having spent time in San Ramon Valley Unified School District. Ms. Hahn attended undergraduate school at University California, Santa Barbara, followed by Chapman University for her multiple subject credential, and eventually earned a Master’s in Educational Leadership and Administrative Credential from Sonoma State in 2017.
In her time at Dunbar Ms. Hahn has used her extensive teaching background and bilingual skill set to work directly with students and families to enrich the learning experience for all, according to SVUSD Superintendent Dr. Adrian Palazuelos.
Ms. Hahn will bring a degree of consistency and energy to Dunbar during this transition. Her roots in the community and experience as a teacher and leader are something the Dunbar community truly valued and shared with me. I have had the opportunity to observe these traits first hand, even in my short time here thus far.”
