Former US Ambassador to Ukraine makes Valley visit

Steven Pifer, the former United States Ambassador to Ukraine, spoke to an audience of 65 attendees at the Sonoma Valley Authors Festival exclusive reception and discussion on August 7.
The event was held at The Moon House, local artist Douglas Fenn Wilson’s home in Glen Ellen.

Ambassador Pifer offered his perspective on the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and an engaged audience took part in a thoughtful Q & A following the remarks.
Pifer spent 25 years with the State Department, including as  ambassador to Ukraine (1998-2000), and special assistant to the president and senior director for Russia, Ukraine and Eurasia on the National Security Council (1996-1997). In addition to Ukraine, Ambassador Pifer served at the U.S. embassies in Warsaw, Moscow, and London.
He is the author of The Eagle and the Trident: U.S.-Ukraine Relations in Turbulent Times.
