Any big plans for the summer?

Mara Lee Ebert

The big thing I want to do is tear up my yard with a sod cutter, and put in drought-resistant plants. I also want to finish the patio I started last year. I’m making a nice little backyard oasis, so maybe I’ll actually sit down and relax a little.

Well, my summer plans will be sending my kids to Mexico for two weeks, so me and my wife can have a nice time in a peaceful house for a second. That’s my son calling me so you see what I’m talking about.

I’m going to go with my family to Alaska for a week, and do a road trip along the coast. Later on I have a two-week sailing camp in Inverness, small boat sailing, which I’m psyched about. Then a family trip to Nantucket that we do every year, to visit my dad’s side of the family there. Then I’m doing a ropes course camp that I always do, with the Rhotens – Sonoma Adventures.

Molly: We decided this year not to go on a trip, because every time we leave Sonoma, we are bummed that we’re missing the best part of the year here. So we’re going to stick around Sonoma. And enjoy all the things here. Casey: It goes by too fast!

I don’t have any big summer plans, but my summer’s going to be filled with vending at markets and festivals. So I’m going to be very busy this summer. I’m excited about the Vintage Festival, here in Sonoma. And then I’m going to be applying for the Petaluma Art and Garden Festival, which is in June.

We got a classic vintage 1970s trailer – a 1976 Kit Companion – and we’ve been working on it. The trailer has been getting re-done, and it’s staying true to 1976. So we’re going to take these little girls and we’re going camping and we’re going to creeks and mountains, and we’re going to show them how to be outside rather than being on their phones all the time.
