Nearly 300 Sonoma County residents and supporters attended the celebratory grand opening of the new Community Mental Health Hub at Hanna Center on Wednesday, May 31. Members of the Sonoma Valley Mental Health Collective, comprised of 17 local partner nonprofit organizations, were also on-hand to support the launch and share their resources with attendees.
“Thank you to everyone who held this vision with us for nearly two years to see it through,” says Cameron Safarloo, CEO of Hanna Center. “It is truly a blessing to be able to provide not only preventative treatment but also hope and healing for patients and their families in their moment of crisis. We are all aware that our community needs quality and culturally sensitive mental health services, and together, we are here to meet that need.”
Logan Pitts a representative from Senator Bill Dodd’s office, came to the event to present a framed Certificate of Recognition from the State of California Senate. Supervisor Gorin also addressed the attendees, as did Victoria Hernandez Padilla, the Teen Services of the Boys & Girls Club of Sonoma Valley 2023 Youth of the Year, who spoke about the critical need for mental health services in her age group.
Guests were invited to tour the Hub and enjoy treats, games, and face painting as well as a visit from Classroom Safari, and performances from Baile Folklorico and the Transcendence Theater Company.
Hub services include Individual, Group and Family Therapy, Substance Use Groups, Parenting Classes & Workshops, Early Childhood Classes, Education Assessments, Trauma-Informed Enrichment Offerings, Yoga & Movement, and more.
“As a lifelong Sonoma Valley resident,” said Leslie Petersen, Vice President of Contracts and Business Development, “It’s heartwarming to be a part of Hanna as we extend our good work to the community we reside in.”
