The Sonoma Valley Unified School District has named Chrissy Waters as Coordinator of Special Education. In other district news, Carlin Fortkamp has been named Program Manager of Business Services.

Waters will work closely with the Educational Services Team and staff in the Special Education Department to support students and families.

She has been at Altimira for the past 14 years, serving as an education specialist, teacher, Vice Principal and most recently, Principal.

“I love supporting the students, families and staff in Sonoma Valley,” Waters said. “I look forward to this opportunity to support the community in a different way using my leadership skills. I have valued my time at Altimira greatly, and I look forward to working with many more students, parents/caregivers and staff in a new capacity.”

Waters grew up in Fairfield, and has lived in Sonoma County for the last 19 years. She said she is married to a very supportive husband who she has been friends with since kindergarten. She also has a two year old son who she describes as her little miracle. The three of them love to be outdoors and like to go on weekend adventures exploring different areas.

Carlin Fortkamp is excited to join SVUSD after running a small business and working as a Business Administrator in a nonprofit organization. Most recently Mr. Fortkamp has been a general manager developing strategic plans for sales growth, analyzing current processes, and implementing efficiencies that reduced costs.

“I love organization and efficiency,” he said  “I enjoy making things better. I’m excited and honored to work with the team of professionals at Sonoma Valley Unified School District and support educators who support our kids.”

During his tenure as Business Administrator, Fortkamp developed operational standards and procedures and oversaw payroll functions such as timekeeping information and processing payroll.

He grew up in Sonoma County, graduated from Santa Rosa High and attended University of Phoenix with a Bachelors in Management.

Of the hire, SVUSD Superintendent, Dr. Jeanette Chien stated, “ Mr. Fortkamp will be focused on supporting the team in the Business Department and he understands the role he will play in serving the students in our district. We need someone who has the technical skills to ensure a sustainable budget while also having a passion for students and allocating resources to meet their needs. Mr. Fortkamp demonstrates the ability to do both.”
